Advice needed on how to proceed with a Scrum Master CoP when you have Project Managers resistant to the change

Thank you to everyone that shared their thoughts and ideas on this subject! See the names of those present in the photo.

This is my first time at this or any other open spaces event so I appreciated everyone's patience and help facilitating my first topic!

It became clear right away that I was mixing a couple thoughts: how to set up a community of practice (CoP), specifically for scrum masters, AND how to deal with project managers resistant to becoming scrum masters. I thought a CoP might help with this second issue.

The latter issue was really the crux of my problem. My organization is going through an agile transformation and there is no title of project manager on a Scrum team. We've delivered training and those coming out of the scrum master training are wondering if they don't want to be a Scrum Master, do they still have a job?

The group had ideas on how to approach this and focused less on the title or what you might call the CoP, rather find out what this group NEEDS. Don't dictate to the practitioners what they need (i.e. a SM CoP), rather ask them what they need to feel supported.

Check out the photos for some of the other thoughts and suggestions. Someone recommended checking out materials from Michael James with the Scrum Alliance.
